Seminars were presented under the general title “Quality of health care: improving management effectiveness within the context of the modernization of health systems”, with managers of health care organizations and representatives of the ministries of health as target audiences. Prior to the seminar in Yakutsk, the conference “Quality in Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Care” took place. The conference was opened by the Minister of Health and social Welfare of Republic od Sakha (Yakutia), A. V. Gorokhov. During the Conference, Radomir Bošković presented the paper “ISO Standards as Basis for the Modernization of Health and Pharmaceutical Care”, which can be downloaded here. Both the conference and the seminar in Yakutsk were organized by our Russian partner “MMKS” and the local company “Sakhapharmacy”, with the support of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Seminar in Yakutsk was attended by about 30 managers of different health care organizations, including those, situated on the shores of the Arctic Ocean. The seminar included discussions on different issues regarding quality management in health care, risk management, evaluation and assessment methods, and health care quality improvement. The seminar was repeated in Ulan-Ude, capitol of the Republic of Buryatia. Here, the seminar was organized by the consulting firm “MMKS Buryatia” with the support of Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Buryatiya. Introductory speech was given by A. O. Zandanov,, Deputy Minister of Health. About 60 managers of health care institutions from all over the republic attended the seminar. It is worth mentioning that this is the second time that «Bonex Engineering» delivers a seminar of this type. As before, participants expressed their satisfaction with presented information, and asked that the collaboration should continue. In addition to seminars in Yakutsk and Ulan-Ude, this Siberian tour  included business meetings, visits to health facilities and local attractions. S. Corsovic and  R. Boskovic had the rare opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty and unforgettable panoramas of Lake Baikal, the Lena River, Yakutsk, Ulan-Ude and Irkutsk. Consultants of "Bonex Engineering" successfully completed training for  strategic planning and risk assessment During March 2006, all our consultants completed tree-weeks course dedicated to strategic planning and risk assessment. This course was realized with the help of the Canadian government program CESO, which helps small and medium-sized enterprises throughout the world to improve their competitiveness. During the training, Mr. Albert Heckel, CESO representative, presented the general approach to strategic planning, development of company vision and mission, and development of plans for action. He also explained the use of modern management tools, such as Balanced Scorecard methodology. The seminar proceeded under general title "Quality in health care: improvement of effectiveness and efficiency of the existing management systems". Seminar was attended by more than twenty participants. Among them were representatives of Siberian State Medical Faculty (Tomsk), healthcare practitioners from state and private hospitals and clinics in Tomsk Oblast, and one quality manager from the Presidential Hospital from Kazakhstan. This training, which was attended by more than fifty participants, is part of the project – "Development of policy for primary care in Balkan countries" (Canadian International Development Agency  - CIDA).
